Kayunga Police Have Arrested 19-year Woman Over Throwing Her Newborn In Pit Latrine

Police in Kayunga have arrested Muton Nyimiri over the attempted murder of her newborn.

This 19-year-old lady has been identified as a resident of Bwetyaba village, Kayunga sub-county Kayunga district, and a wife to one Ssenyonjo.

The suspect delivered a baby by herself and proceeded to throw this juvenile to a pit latrine located on their property.

This distressing incident came to light when her neighbors heard the cries of the baby and alerted the local authorities who who also contacted the police.

 
The fire rescue unit swung into action and rescued this juvenile from the pit latrine when still alive and transferred to Kayunga referral hospital for medical examination.
 
 
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga urged all new mothers with unwanted pregnancies to always visit babies' homes for assistance with their unwanted babies other than committing crimes of attempted murder.
 
The suspect indicated to police that she was not receiving enough assistance from the father of the baby as to why she decided to throw the baby to the pit latrine.
