Kiteezi Garbage Collection Centre Collapses, Damaging Houses

The Kampala Capital City Authority Landfill in Kiteezi has had a structural failure in waste mass this morning resulting in a collapsed section of the landfill.

"The gabbage failure resulted from accumulation of gabbage into a hill like structure". One of the residents said

Police have so far deployed excavators on the rescue mission to save lives. 

The level of damage is still being assessed. However no fatalities have been recorded at this time.

"Our teams, along with other government agencies are on ground taking the necessary measures to ensure the area is secure and to prevent any further incidents". KCCA said.

KCCA is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the community.
