Leader Of Opposition Joel Senyonyi Writes To IGG, DPP To Investigate Speaker AMong Anitah Over Corruption Allegations.
The Leader of Opposition Rt. Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi has written to the Director of Public Prosecution Frances Abodo, Inspector General of Government-Beti Kamya and Auditor General, John Muwanga to conduct an investigation into allegations of corruption and abuse of office at Parliament.
Ssenyonyi revealed that following the failure by Parliament to comprehensively respond to the issues raised in public, he was left with no option but to write to the three bodies to come and establish what is going on in parliament as an institution the speaker Among heada.
“I have written to the IGG, DPP and Auditor General, asking them to act within their mandate to investigate matters of financial impropriety, and other issues that are happening here at Parliament. The Speaker in 146 days received Shs2.6Bn when you do the tabulation, it shows that the Speaker was away for half a year. That isn’t true, the Speaker is always here, even when she had twins, two weeks later, she was back presiding over the House. Ssenyonyi has asked speaker Among to desist from using former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and Homosexuals to coverup for the corruption allegations brought against her, saying Ugandans aren’t interested in her personal fights, but rather want accountability on how taxpayers’ money is spent.

I don’t know if there are any personal issues between those two leaders, that is none of my business, my business is that the Speaker accounts for taxpayers’ money. I don’t know who next she is going to blame, because every day, she is looking for someone to blame. I don’t care who might have issues with her, as she does claim that those who are raising these issues are fighting her, I don’t know, I don’t care. Earlier this month, LOP Joel Ssenyonyi raised a matter concerning questions by the public about Parliament,. questioning how parliament uses tax payers money and accountability by this house, among others.
In response to the same Speaker Among said that the matters raised by Ssenyonyi will only be discussed in the parliamentary Commission meeting and asked MPs to ensure the hold evidence based debates remarking.“We want to debate in anticipation.
