MPs Worried On Unfulfilled Pledges In The Vice President's Office.

MPs on Presidential Affairs Committee have queried the Shs4.283Bn allocated to Vice President, Jessica Alupo meant for donations in the 2024/2025 budget, after some MPs accused her of failing to fulfill the pledges made in their constituencies because her office has no funds, which prompted the Committee to have the funds transferred to the State House.

“If donations are to be utilized by the Vice President, then in most cases they aren’t. She came to Budadiri Girls School & promised to donate computers, she didn’t, then she came back & promised to fence the school & the school is still open.We have gone to that office several times & they said they promised but they don’t have money. That means in most cases, this money is put here for eating. That is why we should get those donations and place them in the rightful place,” said Isaiah Sasaga (Budadiri East).

“This is in one way wasteful expenditure, though you aren’t asking for more money, but MPs are saying this is wasteful expenditure. Let us take this to State House, and when we get State House here, we want this to be differentiated so that we are able to monitor & facilitate both the President & Vice President''. Hon Jesca Ababiku.

The Chairperson of Presidential Affairs Committee Hon Jesca Ababiku said that, under State House, we have a full provision for donations, & State House says their mandate is to ensure that the President and Vice president are fully facilitated so it us to ensure that this is moved and the two are catered for.

H.E.Jessica Alupo, is the ninth and current vice president of Uganda since 2021. She is a Ugandan politician, educator, and former military officer. She previously served in the cabinet of Uganda as minister of education between 2011 and 2016.She is also an elected member of parliament as Katakwi District’s women’s representative.
