M7 Sacks Ministry Of Trade PS Ssali Over Billion Saga
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the appointing authority has sacked the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Trade Ms Ssali after he got intelligence reports that she got involved in multi billion scandals that caused financial loss to the government, Spyreports has exclusively learnt.
According to highly placed security sources, the head of state, was given documentary evidenced that pinned Ministry of trade Permanent Secretary and other top ministry officials to have committed economic crimes.
"The president was advised to sack that PS long time but he insisted that he wanted the proof," says a security source.
The source says after the PS was implicated in motor vehicle saga where government lost millions of money, the President was told to sack her and even call for her investigations but the president declined to do so.
"The president later constituted his silent team to investigate the PS and bring the report in four months before he can make the final decision," reveals another State house source. He added that the team presented documentary evidence pinning PS Ssali and close officials from the Ministry.
The President later instructed the Permanent Secretary/ Secretary to Treasury Ramathan Ngobo to fire the PS with immediate effect.
In His later dated 3rd October, Mr Ngobi wrote to Minister of Trade and Co- Operatives to sack his PS.
"You are requested to nominate a suitable officer to execute the duties of accounting officer pending investigations," Reads part of the letter.
He further instructed the Minister to remove Mr Tom Opio from the department of electronic government procurement system and management.
