The Uganda Law Society has revealed the need to expedite amendments in the laws.

This has been sounded by ULS president  Isaac Ssemakadde during the High Court Open day that was presided over Deputy Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Richard Buteera.

The event was based on the theme "People Centered Justice". During the event, a number of issues were raised like;

 1. Commencement of daily hearings of High Court Criminal matters at the region to eliminate unnecessary delay of criminal matters.

 2. Establish a Court of Appeal civil registry in the region to ease the institution and pursuit of Civil and Criminal Appeals.

3. Decentralise the court of Appeal hearings to a regional level and Conduct usual Civil Sessions of the court of appeal at the regional level.

 4. Foster amendments of the law to ABOLISH COMMITTAL PROCEEDINGS and relieve the undue burden of appearing before courts lacking jurisdiction

 5. Foster amendments of the law to INCREASE CRIMINAL JURISDICTION OF MAGISTRATES COURTS.

 6. Foster amendments in the law to ABOLISH ASSESSORS and relieve the nation of colonial creations

7. Address the interference by the RDCs in frustrating execution processes.
