President Yoweri Museveni on Friday evening appointed Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Abbas Byakagaba as the new Inspector General of Uganda Police replacing former IGP Martin Okoth Ochola whose contract ended in March 2024.
Byakagaba, who recently retired from active police service, In a series of announcements made Friday evening confirmed by Faruk Kirunda the deputy Press Secretary to the President, President Museveni in the new shakeup appointed AIGP James Ochaya to serve as deputy IGP, replacing Maj Gen Geoffrey Katsigazi, with immediate effect.
