Museveni sends Land Force Commander Lt Gen kayanja Muhanga to Somalia after attack on UPDF Base

President Museveni who also doubles as the commander of armed forces has sent UPDF's Land Commander Lt Gen Kayanja to access the situation after a UPDF Base camp was attacked by the Alshabaab militants in the wee hours of Friday. Alshabaab militants claimed responsibility after attacking the UPDF Base adding that a total of 137 soldiers have been killed and the number of injured soldiers haven't been identified.

‪The UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye in a statement condemns the attack and adds that this will not deter Uganda’s commitment to the ATMIS mandate of ensuring African peace and stability.‬

"A team of UPDF under the leadership of the Commander Land Forces Lt. Gen Kayanja Muhanga has been dispatched to Somalia to ascertain the circumstances under which the attack happened and devise the way forward," Brig Gen Kulayigye said.
