Four Arrested over Kidnapping 3 Months Old Baby Boy.
The territorial police in Mubende have recovered a 3-month-old baby boy who was allegedly kidnapped. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, is the son of Magezi Aaron and Nakityo Rose, residents of Kikona Cell, Kirungi Ward, South Division in Mubende Municipality, Mubende District.
According to initial reports, the incident took place on 23rd July 2023, around 10:30 am when Nakityo Rose, the mother of the baby, left her child briefly alone in their home to fetch water from the nearby stream. Upon her return, she was devastated to find her child missing. She immediately informed her husband, who was at work, and they began a frantic search for their baby, but without success.
Upon receiving the distressing news, our dedicated task team promptly initiated a thorough search operation to locate the missing child. Every surrounding house was carefully examined, but there was no trace of the baby. Valuable information from nearby children playing in the area led us to a person who was seen carrying a child while wearing a cap.
Acting on this valuable lead, our officers traced the same route and eventually discovered the abandoned child in the bushes near Nakatogo Vadesi's shrine, approximately 200 meters away. Fortunately, the baby was found alive.
"In the course of our ongoing investigation, we have taken four suspects into custody to assist with the case, and we remain committed to identifying and apprehending any other individuals involved in this criminal act.
We strongly condemn this heinous act of kidnapping and appeal to all parents and guardians to remain vigilant, ensuring that their children are never left unattended. The safety and protection of our children are of paramount importance.
A case of child kidnapping has been formally opened, and we assure the public that our inquiries are still ongoing to ensure that justice is served," SP Kawala Racheal the Public Relations Officer - Wamala Region.
