Namibian President Dies At The Age Of 82
Namibia is grieving the loss of President Hage Geingob, who passed away at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The news was announced by the presidency, leaving the nation in shock and sadness.Geingob, who had been in power since 2015, was a well-respected and influential figure in Namibian politics.
The deceased President this past Wednesday returned from the United States where he underwent a two-day novel treatment for cancerous cells.
Acting President Dr Nangolo Mbumba said in a statement today that Geingob’s medical team tried “its utmost best to ensure that our President recovers,” adding, “Regrettably, notwithstanding the team’s spirited effort to save his life, sadly, fellow Namibians, President Geingob passed on.”
Mbumba further said Namibia “has lost a distinguished servant of the people, a liberation struggle icon, the chief architect of our constitution and the pillar of the Namibian house.
