No More Doubt, President Museveni To Appear On The Ballot Paper-Hajat Namyalo

Early this year, the Electoral Commission of Uganda released the road map to the 2026 general elections. This has geared the electoral mood in all political parties with many having aspirating showing their interests in various elective positions. Some have started grassroots structuring and party reorganization.

The recently launched Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) MK movement and Yellow Youth Movement have created tension and mixed reactions on who will hold the party flag for the top presidential seat come 2026.

Today, In a groundbreaking announcement, it has been confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni will be appearing on the ballot for the 2026 presidential election.

This news was revealed by the senior presidential advisor on political affairs, Hajat Hadijah Namyalo, during her statement at a training session for ONC coordinators, NRM District chairpersons, and registrars.

Hajat Namyalo emphasized the importance of honesty in the registration process and warned them against being influenced by aspiring candidates who may try to manipulate the system. She also urged the participants to fully support President Museveni in his bid for re-election.

NRM Electoral Commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi also reaffirmed President Museveni as the only NRM flagbearer for the 2026 election. This announcement has put an end to all speculation and doubts about who the NRM's candidate will be.

With this confirmation, the public can now prepare for a historic campaign and election in 2026, as President Museveni seeks to continue his service to the nation.

Training of NRM party membership register update exercise which will take place from March 13th to March 17th, 2024, has commenced today. The training has been declared open by the NRM 1st National Vice Chairman, Al Hajj Moses Kigongo, at the party Electoral Commission offices at plot 13, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.
