Parliament adopts motion to assess the status of Kilembe Mines Hospital
The chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee Hon. Dr Charles Ayume has moved a motion for the adoption of the report of the Committee on Health on a field visit to Kasese to assess the status of Kilembe Mines Hospital. According to the report, the Committee observed that the physical site of the hospital was severely destroyed and is prone to future flooding and cannot be revamped. Hon Ayume told legislators on Wednesday that the proposed new site for the hospital is far from the water flow pathway of River Nyamwamba. However, he noted that the Committee recommends that the Ministry of Water and Environment conducts a suitability study of the land at Kilembe Mines staff quarters for the construction of a health facility in the near future and that it should do so before the end of this financial year.
