Poverty Is Still Acholi's Main Problem-Chief Justice Owinyi Dolo Tells Janan Luwum Day Celebrants

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhabulwa Museveni says that the country is on the right track to economic recovery, registering progress in the eradication of poverty through projects like the Parish Development Model (PDM)  aimed at improving household income. This was in the message delivered by the chief justice Owinyi Dolo who represented him on the  47 celebrations held at St. Paul's church Mucwini, Kitgum Diocese Acholi sub-region.

President Museveni praised The Late Jnanai Luwum who he said was a leading figure who played his role in confronting the injustice against the regime of Idd Amin. He has however urged the people of Acholi to embrace the peace brought by the NRM government and urged them to fight corruption. 

The president said Iddi Amin killed Archbishop Luwum because he stood against the injustices and human rights violations during Amin's reign.

In his speech, the chief justice who is also the son of the soil Acholi subregion,  castigated the level of poverty in the Acholi region and revealed their effort they form a transformation movement which he said is a collective responsibility for every individual to arise and work for the revival of Acholi.

''There is no correct word to describe the level of poverty in this Acholi sub-region'', Chief Justice Owinyi Dolo described the region.

The minister of internal affairs Hon Kahinda Otafire has appealed to the people of Acholi and Westnile to desist from voting people who will lead them to problems. There is no problem if someone comes out to exercise his fundamental right of freedom to expression ge. Otafire stated urging them to learn how to stand and exercise their freedom of expression. when I watched idd Amin's regime wondered whether it was God who created Idi Amin. he commented on Hon. Jimmy Akena who came back to Uganda and contributed towards the development of the country despite being a son to the late Obote whose regime we strongly fought.

The Archbishop of the church of Uganda his Grace Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugaru has asked the government of Uganda to reconsider reopening the teacher's training college where Archbishop Luwum was trained school in remembrance of the late Archbishop Janan Luwum.
