President Stops Police Officers, Sister Agencies From Operating Bars, Night Club
Kenya National Police Service has now ordered all police officers owning and operating bars or night clubs directly or through proxies in any part of the country to shut them down with immediate effect or resign.
The notice from the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Douglas Kanja has been copied to all regional police commanders and all police formations and aimed at ending illicit brew in the country.
The notice has also been shared with the county police commanders including all directorates.
"It has been noted with a lot of concern that very many police officers own and operate bars, clubs and wines and spirits businesses all over the country," reads the notice.
All police officers ordered to acknowledge receipt and compliance of this notice.
"All public officers currently operating such premises are required to shut them down or resign from the service with immediate effect."The notice stressed.
Cross-referencing of the Public Service Commission, National Police Service Commission and distinct agency staff records shall be undertaken to secure compliance thereof.The Deputy IGP stated.
