Problems of Security in Africa are Mainly Ideological, Museveni Says.

The president of the Republic of Uganda, HE Rtd Gen, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is the Commander in Chief CIC of the armed forces, has remarked that the problems of security in Africa have mainly been ideological.

"Ideologically, the army must always be close to the people; you cannot fight a war without the support of the population," Museveni said.

He made the revelation during a briefing at State House, Entebbe, on the progress of Operation Shujaa, launched by the joint operations in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by the Chief of Defense Forces CDF, Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, and his counterpart from the DRC, Gen. Christian Tshiwewe Songesha.

"That is why the politics and the discipline of the army must be right; otherwise, if the people are angry with you, even if you fight well, in the end, you will lose," President Museveni noted.

In November 2021, the Ugandan army sent troops to the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in a joint offensive with the Congolese army against the ADF rebels.
