Six Teachers and One Invigilator Arrested for Examination Malpractice
Detectives in Yumbe, West Nile, have in custody six teachers of Nampita Secondary School and an invigilator sent to supervise examinations in the same school. The suspects are charged with possession of unauthorised material and disturbance in an examination room.
The seven include; Obbo Julius Caeser, a teacher of Economics, Angukoru Josephine, a teacher of Biology, Ntibiringirwa Boniface, Wasswa Godwin, Bamukabire James, Okello Emmanuel, and Sadam Hussein, all teachers of Napita S.S., together with an invigilator, Oryema Bosco.
It is alleged that on Thursday October 19th, while examinations were underway, the suspects accessed the examination hall with power banks, smart phones and a laptop under the pretext of charging them, an act which was very suspicious to the scout, causing her to report to police.
Jennifer Kalule the UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer said "Initial investigations indicate that the smart phone for one of the teachers, Obbo Julius, contained answers for the biology practical examination."
The suspects will be arraigned in courts of law and charged with possession of unauthorised material and disturbance in an examination room. If convicted, they will face a sentence of 5 years in prison, or payment of UGX 20 million, or both.
