State House Anti-Corruption Unit Arrests Police Officer Over Extortion of Shs 600K

The State House Anti Corruption Unit has apprehended a police officer on charges of extortion and failure to effect an arrest on a sanctioned file vide ACU GEF 004/2024.

It's alleged that on the 11/Oct/2023 one Kalumba David reported a case of O/M/B/F/P against one Nansubuga Regina, case file was allocated to one No 55542 DC Kafureka Henry attached to lands desk and inquiries commenced.

On the 4/1/24, the said police officer allegedly demanded for 600,000/= ( six hundred shillings) from the complainant to have suspect (Nansubuga Regina) arrested. Money was taken to him and immediately he was arrested with the exhibit.

On Friday 5/1/2024 DIV CID Wandegeya D/ASP Kataike Sarah received a report that one No. 55542 D/C Kafureka Henry was arrested by State House Anti- Corruption Unit officers over alleged Extortion and detained at Railway police. 

According to D/ASP Kataike Sarah, the suspect No. 55542 Dc Kafureka Henry is a Munyankole by tribe, Police officer attached to Wandegeya police Division. A case file of O/M/B/F/P was registered vide Wandegeya CRB/940/2023. He was allocated the file on the 11/Oct/23 and inquiries commenced. Case file was submitted to RSA on the 1/Nov/23 for perusal, legal opinion and benefit of sanctioning.

On the 5/11/23, file was dispatched back from RSA sanctioned. The police man was arrested from Port bell road, near ministry of internal Affairs (meat Parkers) by State House Anti Corruption Unit officers.

"No. 55542 D/C Kafureka Henry was arrested on 4/1/24,  charged of Extortion, detained at Railway police in Kampala District. Case is being handled by state house Anti corruption unit," D/ASP Kataike Sarah, the DIV CID Wandegeya said.
