Toddler Ran Over By Car Driver, Police on a Manhunt for Suspect

Nansana Traffic Police are saddened to report a tragic incident that occurred earlier on Wednesday in Nansana Municipality, resulting in the untimely death of a young child .

According to preliminary investigations, the incident took place in front of Happy Tots Kindergarten and Day Care, opposite Opportunity Bank, at approximately 8 am when a vehicle registration number UAU 433U was dropping off children at the entrance of the kindergarten, a one-year and eight-month-old child named Kawesi Terry tragically went behind the vehicle unnoticed.

Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP Deputy Spokesperson said, "Regrettably, the driver began to reverse the vehicle, the child was struck, and the impact proved fatal. Immediate efforts were made to transport the child to the City Mortuary Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death."

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to Kawesi Terry's family and loved ones for their immeasurable loss. We understand the pain they are experiencing. Nansana Police station is diligently working to apprehend the driver, who fled the scene following the accident," Owoyesigyire said."

He remainded all drivers and road users to exercise utmost caution and vigilance when in close proximity to children. "It is crucial to be mindful of our surroundings and to prioritize the safety of vulnerable individuals, especially in areas frequented by children," Owoyesigyire noted.
