Two Shot Dead by Karamajongo Warriors
Police in Kidepo Region have registered a case of murder by shooting that occurred that happened in Moruitit Community Camp, Longaro Parish, Sidok Subcounty, Kaabong District.
The victims have been identified as Owana Daniel a resident of Naligoi village, Biafra South Parish, Kaabong T/c in Kaabong District and Ojapis a resident of Kotome village, Kotome Parish, Lodiko Subcounty, in Kaabong District.
According to information received, the deceased male adults, Owana Daniel and Ojapis were ridding motorcycle reg no UFG 996P a Bajaj red in colour coming from Napak cultural events heading to Kaabong and when they reached at Moruitit Community Camp, they were waylaid in an ambush by yet unknown suspected Dodoth warriors.
They stopped them after laying a log across the road, parked the motorcycle and moved with them to the bush in a distance of about 10m, removed the bed sheets and searched them. After the search, they shot them dead and disappeared to unknown destination.
In response to the incident, a team of police officers, led by the Oc CID, D/IP Mutaire James, and including Zonal commander ASTU IP Adiba, SOCO Aip Nambago Yonna, and CI DC Okudi Isaac, was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a motorcycle with the registration number UFG 996P parked in the middle of the road. A subsequent search of the area revealed two lifeless bodies lying in a pool of blood, approximately 10 meters away from the road. Nearby, they also found bedsheets and a helmet.
The SOCO (Scene of Crime Officer) documented the scene by taking photographs and creating a sketch plan for further investigation.
The deceased individuals were transported to Kaabong hospital for postmortem examinations. It was later established that one of the deceased was identified as Owana Daniel, while the other was known as Ojapis.
Following these initial actions, a W/T (Wireless Telegraph) was prepared and set to be sent. Additionally, PF 16 (Police Form 16) and PF 16A were to be filled out and processed as part of the ongoing investigation into this tragic incident.
