UBOS To Spend Shs3bn On Post Enumeration Survey

The Uganda Bureau Of Statistics which is an independent body responsible for conducting National Housing and Population Census in Uganda every after ten years, has revealed it will spend a tune of shs 3bn in conducting Post Enumeration Survey (PES).

 This was revealed by UBOS Head communications officer Okoth Didacus while addressing the media at police headquarters in Naguru today.

 "PES is an independent exercise aimed at validating the quality of concluded National Census results in terms of coverage and content," he Sounds.

He added that it will be conducted between August and September and 135 districts and 11 Cities will be affected.

 "PES will be conducted by special team of experts comprised of Doctors and professors from various Universities such as Makerere, Kyambongo among others," he said adding that who ever participated in Concluded Census will be allowed in this exercise.

"We shall over 1000 Ugandans getting employed in this exercise and enumerators will ear shs 50000 daily for the time they will work," Assures Didacus.

He also revealed that this time round enumerators will be asking few questions unlike Census. Foristance we shall ask all persons who spent the previous night in the house holds of an Enumeration area.

Then persons who spent previous nights outside the house hold but came back late eg in bars,discos or other night event venues among others.

He further stated that members of house hold who were admitted to hospitals on the previous nights will not be included but their caretakers who were away on the previous night will be included in the Survey.

"Persons at funeral will be enumerated from their respective households," He adds saying that children born after the previous night will not be included.

However he narrates that persons who were in the house hold on the previous night but died before the interviews will be included in the report.

 He further revealed that security officers in all categories who spent precious night on duty will be enumerated. "All people in educational institutions, Hostels, Religious institutions, Refugee camps, Security barracks will not be enumerated," He says.

Mr Didacus called upon the general public, Local leaders of all levels to cooperate with field staffs to ensure accurate capture of the information.
