9 Year Old Primary School Child Hangs Self
Detectives from Kyazanga Police Station have commenced investigations into a tragic incident involving a 9 year old boy who committed suicide at school by hanging himself.
The deceased has been identified as Ojuma Joel male juvenile aged 09 years old, Lugbara by tribe, pupil at Coloh Children's foundation and a resident of Byuma zone, Kyazanga town council, Lwengo District.
According to information provided by a one Matovu Chris aged 38 years old, a muganda by tribe, resident of Byuma zone, Kyazanga T/ council, Lwengo district who is the Director Coloh Children's foundation.
The deceased Ojuma Joel has been a pupil at Coloh Children's foundation and on the 24/11/2023, third term closed and children dispatched to their homes and only remained three children including the now deceased who had some school fees balance and parents were to pay before taking children.
The sister to the now deceased Alinda Kasifah was sent to pick Ojuma Joel from school but the bursar refused her from taking him minus paying, hence the now deceased slept at school with another boy child Lwanga Allan.
On Saturday 25/11/2023, Lwanga Allan was finally taken by the parents only remained two pupils, one girl Namugga Lamulah and the now deceased who each was in a separate dormitory.
At about 12:00 noon, the cook one only identified as Robert sent Namugga Lamulah to take food to Ojuma Joel in the dormitory who found him hanging on a rope dead, she ran and called a teacher who confirmed and alerted others, called the director who reported to police.
Upon Police receiving this information, the Scene was visited by a team led by ASP Kahuma Pamela, SOCO and detectives. The body was found hanging on a rope tied on a three metallic bed inside the boys dormitory.
The body was examined and found with all suicide signs including the tongue out, feaces on the body and a V-shape. It was forwarded to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem
"This suicide is as a result of frastration caused by the school administration to the now deceased resulting into suicide," ASP Kahuma Pamela noted.
"Three people in our custody including the director Matovu Chris, head teacher Ssekatawa Julius and school bursar Kagenda Muzafaru to help in investigations," he added.
