UCC, ICT Committee Meet To Access Strategic Programs Progress
Minister of ICT and National Guidance accompanied by members of Uganda Communications Commission top management have held a full-day workshop with the ICT committee of parliament led by Hon. Tony Ayo.
UCC updated them on the progress of various initiatives being undertaken to execute our regulatory mandate.
"This workshop is one of many that are core to our stakeholder management strategy". Said UCC Boss Hon. Nyombi Tembo
Thru such forums, we analyze methodologies and impacts of different regulatory initiatives and receive feedback on effectiveness, potential areas of collaboration, support, and synergies.
"Our meeting with Hon. MPs covered key topics including technical regulatory resources, industry and consumer issues, cybersecurity, the role of research, HR strategies, impact of emeeging texhnologies, universal access, governance, accountability, and funding". He added
Such engagements are vital for ensuring MPs understand the dynamics of the ICT sector, empowering them to legislate supportively.Remarked Hon Chris Baryomunsi The Minister oc ICT and National Guidance.
HE thanked the Members of Parliament on ICT committee for their time and assured them to have continued collaboration.
This comes asfter Members of Parliaments on ICT Committee are conducting an oversight tour of UCC projects in eastern Uganda.
The MPs toured the Uganda Military Engineering College at Lugazi, whose computer lab was furnished by the Uganda Communications Universal Service and Access Fund - UCUSAF in 2021.
Other sites to be visited include Pilkington College Muguluka, Kamuli SME Training and Mbale School for the Deaf.
