Uganda Deploys 5000 Troops to Eastern DRC For Peace Mission.

A brigade of 5000 Uganda People’s Defence Forces(UPDF) soldiers has been deployed on a peace mission in the Eastern DRC's North Kivu province as part of the EAC Regional Force.

The troops are being sent to the Rutshuru territory to restore peace in the area, which is currently under the control of the M23 rebels.

The deployment is in accordance with the November 2022 recommendations by the heads of state mini-summit held in Angola's capital, Luanda.

Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, the UPDF Land Forces Commander, flagged off the troops in a ceremony.
