Uganda to Open New Passport Center in Beijing to Serve Citizens in China

The Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to establish a new passport center in Beijing, China in May to facilitate the process of issuing and renewing passports for Ugandan citizens residing in that region.

This initiative aims to provide more convenient and accessible passport services to Ugandan nationals living in Beijing and its surrounding areas.

According to Simon Peter Mundeyi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the upcoming opening of the new passport centre in Beijing, China is scheduled to take place on May 2nd. “The new passport centre in Beijing will serve Ugandans living and working in that city as well as the entire China and those in nearby Hongkong,” Mundeyi said.

As a result of the growing relationship between Kampala and Beijing, a significant number of Ugandan citizens have chosen to reside, work, or pursue their studies at various Chinese universities and cities.

A considerable number of Ugandan nationals have also established businesses in China, and the establishment of the new passport centre in Beijing will facilitate the process of applying for and renewing passports for these individuals.

The new passport centre in Beijing will be the seventh one to be established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, following the opening of similar centres in Washington, London, Pretoria, Abu Dhabi, Ottawa, and Copenhagen.
