Man Impersonating As A Commissioner Of Police Arrested At Luzira Maximum Plrison.

Police in Kampala have arrested aman who has been impersonating as a police officer and possesed a fake identity card.

On the evening of 25/04/2024 Kampala metropolitan Police commander  received a call from RPC Prisons Kampala Extra region CP Nabunya Stella telling him about a man who was dressed in police uniform but had earlier on been detained at luzira prison on charges of robbery but escaped from lawful custody in 2017. Police 

dispatched SP Opio Patrick DPC Jinja Road with a team of officers to luzira prison, upon arrival they asked him afew questions but the suspect only identified as Mugerwa first claimed to be a police commissioner, then later he presented an a fake warrant card for the rank of ASP in the names of mugerwa Don William.

 Upon further interrogation he revealed that he had come to visit his friend who is an inmate at luzira prison which raised a lot of doubt.

 The man was arrested and taken to Jinja Road police Division where he was charged and detained vide SD 75/25/04/24.

 Efforts are underway to go to his residence for search tomorrow as more investigation are still underway.
