UPDF Officer Kills One, Injures a Colleague over Allegations of Theft

Police in Nateete are investigating a murder by shooting on 17/06/2023, in Kabaale Zone, Busega Ward in Kampala District.

The deceased has been identified as, Lutaaaya Geoffrey aged 20 years old, a Muganda by tribe, Casual worker, and a resident of Kabaale Zone, Busega Ward, Nateete-Rubaga Division in Kampala District.

According to a report by the 2nd Lt. Akwasa Godfrey a UPDF officer attached at Northern bypass In Kampala District, It's alleged that on the 17th/06/2023 at about 10pm, Kabaale-Busega zone in  Kampala District. UPDF officer identified as Pte. Boyi Moses while on duty at Double 'Q' Company-Busega zone intercepted the Deceased and 02 others trespassing at the company premise with intent to steal and the said officer shot the Deceased and injured another who later escaped from the scene.

Police responded immediately and a Case file registered vide Busega SD ref:23/17/06/2023. A Statement was recorded from reporter and other witnesses. The Scene of crime was visited by SP Sekalema Hussein, ASP Ojiambo Geoffrey including both CID and other police personnel. The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary. The officers recovered a discharge rifle cartridge at the scene as Inquiries continue.
