UPDF To Recruit Over 9600 Cadets Into Infantry Forces
The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) will recruit 9,627 cadets into their ranks this year.
The Uganda Peoles Defence Forces is to conduct a general recruitment exercise of 9627 regular forces into Infantry forces.
The actual recruitment exercise will commence on 01 July 24 and end on 14 July 2024.
According to Brig. Gen Felix Kulayigye the Director Defence Public Information, applicants will be citizens who sat O-Level between 2000 ans 2023.
The army will start receiving applications on May 27 and close its window June 2, with interviews scheduled to start on July 1 and run up to July 14.
"Prospective recruits must have passed English and Mathematics at the same level," Gen Olupot added.
However, the age requirement appears to rule out many who sat their Senior Four final examinations before 2010 as the army said the exercise will strictly be for those ages 18 to 22.
Aspiring candidates applying to join the regular force will get recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, GISO and DISO. Thereafter, they will submit their application forms to the office of their respective RDCs where they will be registered and awaiting collection by the UPDF collection teams that will submit them to the office of Joint Staff Human Resource Management which will cause a shortlist.
The list of successful applicants will be published and displayed on the District/City notice boards informing the shortlisted applicants to appear at designated recruitment centres for the final interviews.
The recruitment shall be conducted using the projected population figures of each District/City of Uganda that forms the basis of recruitment quotas.
The quotas for potential recruits are computed by the proportion of the population of each City/District of Uganda based on the updated population as of 25 Jun 23 by UBOS.
The Regular Force Recruitment 2023/24 will be conducted throughout the entire country covering the 135 districts and 11 Cities.
