We are Still in Time Frame To Conduct National Census- UBOS Boss

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics UBOS an independent institution that is responsible for conducting out the National Population Census has revealed it is still within the time flame to carry out National Census.
This information which came as good news to Ugandans was said by the Executive Director, Dr Chris Mukiza who is a statistician by professional on Friday while closing a one day seminar that was held at UBOS Statistics House in Kampala.
The Seminar was attended by several statisticians from different ministries and organisations across the Country.
Dr Mukiza said UBOS extended the date for National Census which was to be held in August due to delay of procurement process. "The date was slightly extended but we are still in the time frame of carrying out the National Census," he revealed, adding that the Country should not be worried.
He added that Cabinet is yet to set another day which will be early 2024.
"If resources are always available we can conduct the National Census even every after five years," he stated, adding why it is every after ten years is due to luck of resources.
He urged all statisticians to show high level of professionalism while conducting their National duties. He further said statisticians must write, publish and disseminate information." Studying Statistics is not enough, we must go ahead and write, publish and share date, he added. He encouraged statisticians to always be in the field than staying in office. "You must develops skills for promotion. Staying in one place for a long time is not a direct ticket for promotion, he says. He further said that statisticians should not be money minded which is a common trend in Uganda currently. "We have a big challenge here, we only get students who are money minded," he added. He said good statisticians should promote digital communication out reach and advocacy. He said UBOS has enough data to inform the Country.
