Woman Takes Poison, Dies Inside Church after Pastor Fails to Pay Her shs 16M Saving

Residents from Ibanda Municipality are in shock after a woman committed suicide by poisoning herself inside a church accusing a pastor of failing to pay her UGX 16 million she saved with him.

 The deceased has been identified as Akankunda Scovia alias Nalongo aged  35 years, a Munyankore by tribe working from Ibanda central markets and a resident of Kafunjo cell Bufunda ward Bufunda Division lbanda Municipality lbanda District.

According to a report issued by a one Webare Isaac aged 30 years, a Mutooro by tribe who is a Boda boda rider and resident of lbanda town in lbanda District, "It's alleged that the deceased was a Christian worshipping from Depth ministries church situated at Kafunjo cell in lbanda municipality under the leadership of a pastor called Bukenya Daniel."

The deceased agreed with the pastor to save with him her money while he promised to give back to her the whole amount at once anytime she needs it and the deceased saved slowly until it had accumulated to UGX 16m (Sixteen million shillings).

When the deceased went to the pastor for her money, the pastor denied her saying that for him he knew only 800,000/=(Eight hundred thousand shillings).

The deceased then toon the matter to CPS lbanda where she met the O/C Station ASP Besigye Gilbert over the issue on 06th November 2023. The O/C station called on the pastor's phone which was going through but he didn't pick. The O/C station advised her to seek redress from civil court.

On the next day, she went back to the pastor where things remained the same and the deceased decided to take poison from the church in front of the pastor, she was rushed to the nearest clinic where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. 

Upon police receiving this information, the scene of crime was visited by the Homicide team from Ibanda CPS led by D/ASP Oumo Okorimong Cooper, the District CID officer and the SOCO and fully processed and documented. The deceased's body was conveyed to Ruhoko Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem. Some statements were recorded from relevant witnesses however inquiries are still at hand but no arrests have been made yet.
