25 Simcards Recovered, 16 City Criminals Arrested in an Intelligence Led Operation

Territorial Police in Natete has apprehended 16 criminals and charged them with public nuisance, pending further investigations.

In a proactive initiative to enhance public safety leading up to the festive season, the intelligence-led operations were conducted in Kabawo, railways, and Nalukolongo. Notably, a substantial number of known criminals, including four recently released from Luzira, were apprehended during this operation. Various illicit items such as breaking implements, knives, and opium were successfully recovered.

Addressing the escalating concerns of thefts around Arua Park, Kinamwandu, and Nile Coach, another intelligence-led operation was executed. A total of 16 individuals suspected of engaging in crimes like phone and bag thefts were arrested.

On 09/11/2023, at 5pm, the Katwe Police Division took decisive action in areas of Kosovo and Kulekaana, encompassing the Munyonyo belt. The operation specifically targeted phone snatchers, con artists, and opium smokers. Seven key suspects, considered a threat to both locals and potential visitors to the country, were apprehended. They have been charged, exhibits were recovered, and the suspects are awaiting court proceedings. Further details will be provided in due course.
