29 Suspects Arrested Over Mob Justice, Murder And Malicious Damage Of Property.
Territorial Police in Mukono are actively investigating three disturbing cases of Murder and Malicious Damage to Property.
its said that , on April 12th, 2024, at approximately 1 pm, a tragic incident unfolded in Kakoola Village, Nama Subcounty, Mukono district where four individuals were subjected to brutal violence by members of the Kakoola community and were mercilessly beaten and burned beyond recognition.
Among them, two were identified as Junior Masiga and Semujju Abdallah, while the other two are yet to be identified.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy Public Relations officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police said that, Inquiries revealed that this act of barbarity stemmed from an earlier incident of Murder in Kakola village, Katogo Parish.
In the initial incident was on the 11th day of April 2024, where two Boda Boda riders fell victim to a heinous attack, resulting in their untimely deaths. Their motorcycles, with registration numbers UFF955G and UFX 119V respectively, belonging to Sande Ssemanda and Mawanda Richard, were stolen by the assailants, who callously dumped their bodies in a nearby swamp.
It has come to light that one resident, Senyondo John, who is currently in custody at Mukono CPS, identified the alleged attackers that fateful night. However, instead of alerting the authorities, the community took matters into their own hands.police revealed.
They located the suspects identified above, beat them up, and burnt them beyond recognition.
They later suspected others to be involved in the murders of the riders, whom they arrested, brought to the burial grounds of one of the deceased riders, and executed them before setting their bodies ablaze.
The Mukono Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, swiftly responded to this horrific act of Mob justice and Malicious Damage to Property of another resident who was also suspected and as a result, 29 individuals have been apprehended to assist in the ongoing investigations.
Concurrently, an intensive probe is underway to uncover any additional suspects involved in the initial murder of the two riders and the two separate cases of mob justice and Malicious Damage said Luke Owoyesigire.
''We urge the public to refrain from resorting to Mob justice, as it not only fails to deliver justice but also obstructs law enforcement efforts by impeding evidence collection''.He said.
In a related development, the territorial Police at Mukono is investigating a recent incident of child stealing in the community.
Preliminary investigations indicate that, On April 13, 2024, during the morning hours, a distressing event unfolded in Kikulu village, Sonde zone, Goma Division, Mukono District. Mr. Kayongo Juma, aged 44, reported to authorities at Seeta Police that his son, Nsimbe Ahammed, aged 3 and a half years old, had been taken from their home.
He added that the maids involved in the incident, Nabagala Joanitah, aged 29, and Namutala Doreen, aged 30, have been arrested and are currently in police custody.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire has revealed that the suspect, Sserwadda Sulaiman, has been also apprehended and is currently detained at Mbale Police Station pending transport to Seeta for further legal proceedings.
Kampala Metropolitan Police commended all the officers involved in the swift resolution of this case and members of the community who provided valuable assistance and information that led to the suspect's arrest.
