The general public has been left in total shock and fear after police under the Directorate of Tragic and road safety revealed that a total of 779 innocent people have been killed on the road in just less than six months, Spyreports has shockingly learnt.

According to traffic spokesperson SP Michael Kananura, statistics conducted in less than 6 months 33% of total road fatal accidents are pedestrians. "779 pedestrians have lost their lives highlighting the urgent need for collective efforts to reduce this crime," He says. He further went on and say that 306 were knocked dead while crossing the road, 264 knocked while walking along side the road. What shocked the public most is that 173 were knocked dead while making morning and evening jogging, cleaning, skating among others. And 36 were knocked dead while standing along side the road waiting to be transported. It should be remembers that Tycoon Kasiwukira the deceased was knocked dead while jogging in rich surburb of Muyenga. " It is the duty of every one to safe guard pedestrians, " He stressed adding that drivers and motorists should respect zebra crossing and designated pedestrians crossings. He further called upon KCCA to repaint and paint pedestrians crossings, mark lanes and indicate center lines which will enhance road safety and clarity for motorists in the city. "All drivers respect zebra crossing, yield to pedestrians and adhere to speed limits," Wanrns Kananura. " Remember that every one is a pedestrian at some point. Let's work together to protect vulnerable road uses," He warned.
