Armed Burglars Bound Security Guard, Take Off With Shs63M at Kasawo Secondary School.

The Nagalama Police Station is currently conducting an investigation into a burglary that occurred at Kasawo Secondary School during the early hours of today.

According to police statement, a group of individuals believed to be armed broke into the school and bound the private security guards before gaining access to the administration and Bursar's offices. The burglars then proceeded to steal several valuable items, including three computers.

Upon receiving notification of the burglary, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said police promptly arrived at the site and secured the area.

In order to assist with the investigation, Owoyesigire says a canine unit was brought in. Unfortunately, two of the private security guards were injured during the incident, and two others are still unaccounted for.

As part of the investigation, it was revealed that the school's money safe was not in use and was defective. Additionally, it was discovered that two Bursars who shared an office claimed to have had 63 million shillings stored in an old wooden drawer.

A meeting was organized at the school which involved the District Police Commander, members of the Parent-Teacher Association, and the Board chairs and members to discuss the incident and deliberate on the appropriate course of action.

The investigations by the police are still ongoing, and they are appealing to anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward and report to the closest police station.

Owoyesigire says that this event highlights the necessity for increased security measures in schools and other educational facilities. It is crucial that the police and school management collaborate to guarantee the safety and protection of students, faculty, and assets.
