Bamwine Calls For Effective Service Delivery, Govt Programs Implementation
The Commissioner from the RDC Secretariat/ACU, Office of the President Fred Bamwine has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration and account goodability in Kanungu District. During a mobilization meeting held with district leaders, Bamwine highlighted the importance of effective service delivery and the implementation of key government projects.
The meeting, also referred to as a Baraza, brought together various district officials to assess their performance and address ongoing challenges. Several officers were praised for their outstanding work, including Calebs Muhanuuzi Owomuhangyi, the District Commercial Officer; Kato Besisira, the Deputy District Health Officer (DHO); and Shaban Adam, the District Education Officer.
However, Commissioner Bamwine was critical of underperforming officials, stating that the government provides reasonable salaries to ensure that its employees can perform their duties efficiently. He warned that officers who regularly absent themselves without valid reasons would face dismissal.
One of the major concerns raised during the meeting was the breakdown of the tea sector, which has significantly impacted incomes in the district. Byaruhanga Frank, a district leader, pointed out that many farmers who relied on tea as their primary cash crop are struggling due to the collapse of this sector, which has hindered economic growth in the area. In response, Commissioner Bamwine promised to escalate the issue to higher authorities for quick intervention to revive the sector. Bamwine also addressed the issue of unreliable electricity supply in Kanungu, despite the district being equipped with a substation.
He pledged to ensure that the substation is fully utilized to provide consistent power and to extend electricity to areas that remain underserved. In addition, Bamwine stressed that government workers who sabotage the implementation of programs or mistreat citizens in their offices would be held accountable. He urged the district council to draft bylaws targeting citizens who engage in idleness, alcoholism, and gambling during working hours, actions that negatively impact productivity.
To further discuss these issues and others, a Baraza meeting has been scheduled today, Monday, October 7th, at 10:00 AM in the District Council Hall.
The meeting will focus on the implementation of government programs in Kanungu District, in line with the NRM manifesto.
Those expected to attend include heads of departments, subcounty chairpersons, members of the District Executive Committee (DEC), civil society representatives, and executives from the district youth and women councils.
Commissioner Bamwine concluded the meeting by reminding all leaders and government workers of their responsibility to ensure that go3vernment programs are carried out effectively and that discipline is upheld both in the public service and among the citizens.
