Besigye, Lutale To Spend Christmas -New years days In Prison Until 7th January 2025

The general court martial in Makindye has adjourned the case of Rtd Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obeid Lutale after the defense legal team raised a matter of not fully constituted. 

The lawyers headed by Erias Lukwago noted that they are waiting for the Uganda Law Council to clear their Lead counsel Martha Karua.

This fallowed the Uganda Law Council denying Martha Karua a temporary practicing license, citing her application as politically motivated, rather than purely professional.

The matter has been adjourned to January 2025 at 10am.

A group of individuals chant "We will never surrender" in General Court Martial after the ruling on the adjournment.

The two face multiple charges, including unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The court room was full to capacity where some defense lawyers were force to complete the proceedings while standing.

Among the members in the court is the 87-year old John Kiwanuka from Buikwe said that  he had come to the second time stand surety for Kizza Besigye at the Military Court in Makindye, Kampala.

Other diginitories whom at the court to show solidality to the accussed are, Leader of Opposition in parliamet(LOP) Joel Ssenyonyi, Commissioner of Parliament and former LOP Mathias Mpuuga,  former opposition leaders in parliament Betty Awol Ochan and Winnie Kiiza.
