Kenya Law Society Is Considering Suspension Of Admitting  Advocates From Uganda Over Refusal To Grant Mathar Karua A Temporary Practicing Certificate In Besigye Trial.

Kenya Law Society has released a statement where it is considering suspension of admitting Advocates from Uganda Law Society for unspecified period until the decision by the Uganda Law Council has reversed its stance on the refusal to grant Mathar Karua a temporary practicing certificate.Image

 The society is also considering to have an engagement with the Uganda Judiciary to resolve the impasse, The statement released on 10th December 2024 and signed by Faith Odhiambo the president Kenya Law Society condemned the Ugandan Law Council noting that the prevailing hard stance and lack of compromise to promote the mutual recognition agreement between Kenya and Uganda is not only deliberate, it is also a matter the council appears to pride over.Image

 “This Law Society of Kenya will be engaging the Attorney General immediately to bring the overdue impasse over cross-border practice to a conclusive end".T he statement reads in part.
