Court Dismisses Incitement to Violence Case against Besigye

Buganda Road Magistrate's Court has dismissed a case in which the former Forum for Democratic Change FDC part and former presidential candidate, Rt. Col Dr Kiiza Besigye, was accused of incitement violence; due to lack of evidence presented by the prosecution.

Besigye was accused of inciting the masses against the high prices of commodities in May 2022. "For more than a year, the State has never brought any witness in this case!
Simply: this is PERSECUTION not PROSECUTION!" Besigye said in a statement on his Twitter account.

"This case joins uncountable other trumped-up cases that have been brought against me. A lot of time is lost in detention & appearing in various courts, due to the fictitious charges.
We shall never give up; the struggle continues!" He added.
