Court Orders Sale of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Properties to Recover UGX 19Bn Debt
The High Court Commercial Division has issued a decree to Uganda Muslim Supreme Council compelling a payment of a debt amounting to UGX Nineteen Billion, Two Hundred Twenty One Million, Six Hundred Eighty Eight Thousand Two Hundred Sixty Only 19,221,688,260.
In a statement endorsed by the High Court Commercial Division Registrar, HW Catherine Agwero dated 07/08/2023 signed on 16/11/2023 to the Bailiff of Court titled "Warrant of Attachment and Sale of Immovable Property," the debtor, failing to meet this sum, is subject to property attachment, including various lands, shares, and plots, estimated at a total value of UGX 2 billion.
The property attachment include the following; Land comprised in Lease Hold Register Volume KKCA 149 Folio 16 land, Kampala City William Street 30, Land comprised in Lease Hold Register Volume 2771 Folio 2, Old Kampala Plot 23-25, Kyadondo Block 195 Pot 5463 Land at Kyanja, 1 Square Miles of land at Hakwe, Hoima, 1 Acre piece of land located at Lumbas, Jinja, Plot of Land at Mbale City, Shares in Uganda Ranchers Ltd & Commercial Holdings Ltd; Subsidiaries to Uganda Moslem Supreme Council that own 2 square miles of land at Migyera-Buluri, Plot in Entebbe Opposite Victoria Mall.
The Registrar further ordered that the sales will not take place before 30 days from the date on which notice for such sale has been advertised and approval of the valuation report by the High Court Commercial Division.
