Diary Cooperative Quality Controller Remanded Over Theft Of Farmers' Shs470m
State House Anti Corruption Unit in conjuction with CID and Office of Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) have today arraigned Mr. Myers Muhimbura, the Quality Controller of Ntungamo Dairy Farmers Cooperative Union (NDAFUCO) for theft of UGX 474 Million.
Others who have been charged with Neglect of Duty is; Laban Mugizi Rukangayo, (Accountant), Abesigye Dan Kakiza (Secretary/Manager), Turyahikayo Caleb (Treasurer) and Kyampaire Jennifer (Cashier) all staff of NDAFUCO.
These did not appear in Court but criminal summons have been issued to them.
The accused Muhimbura would record lesser quantities of milk supplied to the cooperative by member farmers and after selling the milk delivered, he would steal the difference of money realised.
He has been remanded until 13/06/2024.
In a related development, earlier this week, the same AntiGraft Unit arraigned two officials of Busolwe Town Council, Butaleja District before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of Office.
In May 2022, the two officials; Hirya Julius (Town Clerk) and Namutiga Charles Guloba (Assistant Engineer), allegedly abused their authority by irregularly approving contracts to World Host Consultants Ltd, for the designing of the town council structural plan without following procurement procedures.
This impunity resulted in loss of public funds in payments to the irregularly contracted World Host Consultants Ltd. They were remanded until 14/06/2024.
