Five Arrested in Connection with Murder Case in Mubende

The Territorial Police in Mubende have made significant progress in the investigation of a murder case that occurred in Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Subcounty, Mubende district. 

The incident took place this morning and resulted into deaths of two individuals, Namutebi Milly Naava (54 years old) and Kayizi Abudalah (53 years old).

Based on preliminary findings, it was reported that on 31st July 2023, around 08:00 a.m., the deceased, Namutebi Milly Naava, along with her husband, Abudalah Kayizi, and their two sons, Ssekamate Muzafaru and Ibrahim Kawuma, were ambushed by a group of approximately 30 individuals led by Tumusiime Benjamin.

The attack occurred while the victims were leaving the home of Tumusiime Benjamin. Both Namutebi Milly Naava and her husband were hacked to death during the violent incident, while their two sons managed to escape but sustained serious injuries.

The motive behind this gruesome murder has been identified as a long-standing land dispute, specifically involving an 8 square mile piece of land situated in Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Subcounty, Mubende.

"The crime scene has been examined, documented, and relevant statements from witnesses have been recorded to aid the investigation process. 

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mubende Referral Hospital, pending the postmortem," SP Racheal Kawala Public Relations Officer Wamala Region said.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have arrested five suspects believed to be connected to the crime. These individuals are currently detained at Mubende CPS while efforts continue to identify and apprehend more suspects involved in this horrific act.

"The authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families. We will spare no effort in bringing all responsible individuals to face the full force of the law.

We urge the public to cooperate with the police by providing any relevant information that may aid the investigation.
We appeal for calm in the affected community during this trying time, SP Kawala said.
