Four Held for Illegal Possession and Trading of Forestry Products

Four individuals are currently held by the Territorial Police in Ssezibwa Region and Lugazi CPS, with a court appearance on the horizon. The suspects are facing allegations of engaging in illegal possession and trading of forestry products.

Among the arrested are WO Ntumwisho Temteo, a 51-year-old military driver residing at Mbuya Army barracks; Serunja Jordan, a 23-year-old from Lugazi Kitenga; Serwada Steven, aged 20 and living in Kayanja Mukono; and Kyomugisha Robina, a 38-year-old residing in Kinyoro zone, Lugazi Municipality. 

"These arrests were made on July 31, 2023, while the suspects were loading timber from Mabira forest onto a UPDF truck with registration number H4DF 334. The impounded truck is currently parked at Lugazi CPS.

The illegal possession and trade of forestry products is a grave offense, and stringent measures will be taken against the suspects. Ongoing operations aim to safeguard our biodiversity and ensure regulated forest resources continue to support livelihoods," SCP Enanga Fred the Police Spokesperson said.
