Gang Attacks Police Station Over Impounding Their Smuggled Goods
The Police in Maracha district are actively investigating the incident in which a gang of smugglers attacked central police station Maracha armed with bows and arrows,marchetes(pangas and knives),stones with there motorcycles while yelling and shouting on top of their voices heading towards the quarter guard.
These started stoning the police station damaging floor light and wind screen of Up 5604 police patrol vehicle which was packed in the yard.
This prompted the police officers on duty to release bullets in the air scaring them off.
The incident lasted for about 30 minutes.
It is alleged,that the cause of the attack could have been when the police officers during day time impounded smuggled goods which were later handed over to the URA officers in Olaba customs for further management.
The DPC Maracha was forced to call for reinforcement fron the regional headquarters and armed all the officers and ut them on alert.
By the time of publication of this report, The situation had normalized.
