Internal Affairs Ministry Launches Jinja Passport Office, Becomes The Fourth Regional Office After Gulu, Mbale, and Mbarara
Jinja City has joined Mbarara, Gulu, and Mbale to get a passport office and immigration control center in Uganda. Today people of Jinja have witnessed the official opening of this passport office which is aimed at saving resources and time for those who have been traveling to Kampala to access the services.
Jinja Passport Office is launching today, becoming the fourth regional office after Gulu, Mbale, and Mbarara. This decentralization of passport services aims to bring services closer to Ugandans.
During the launch, the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lt. Gen.Joseph Musanyufu urged the people of Busoga to avoid third parties in accessing passport services. Gen. Musanyufu noted that the decentralization of passport services is not only meant to bring services closer to the people but also to avoid bureaucratic red tape for those seeking passport services and end corruption vices created mainly by having few service centers.
He has implored people in Jinja to embrace online passport applications using their mobile phones and computers.
Maj. Gen.Apollo Kasiita Gowa the director of citizenship and Immigration control has revealed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is soon opening up another passport service center in Arua City implementing the presidential directive to take services closer to the people.
