Joint Security Forces Net Killer of LC III Chairperson and UPDF Officer In Kotido District

The joint security forces have in custody a notorious criminal who shot dead the Chairperson of Local Council III of Longaroe sub county late Lomuria Moses and the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) Officer late Lt Issa Mayende.

The killer identified as Modo John Apakori was arrested in the remote Kacheri hideout, on Saturday 26 Aug 2023 at around 6:30pm, by the joint security forces in close collaboration with good law abiding citizens (wanainchi), after a tipp off.

On 2 July 2023, killer male adult  Modo John Apakori  who hails from Losilang village, North Division in Kotido Municipality intentionally and reportedly shot dead  Lt Issa Mayende and  Hon Lomuria Moses as the two deceased  held a brief meeting at Longaroe Trading Center in Kotido district.

After the criminal act, Modo John Apakori ran to Kacheri hideouts until his arrest was made, there joint security forces recovered SMG number UPDF CP 3036 with 6 live rounds of ammunition which the warriors' network previously stole from a slain UPDF soldier.

Modo John Apakori is now under UPDF custody at 405  Infantry Brigade Headquarters, Nakaperimoru Sub county in Kotido district pending thorough investigation and interrogations.

Maj Isaac Oware PRO 3 Division said that, "Once steady investigations are complete he will be arraigned  in courts of law to answer charges of murder and illegal possession of firearm  among other counts."

He commended the residents of Kacheri Trading Center and forces that operate in Kotido district for their vigilance and timely response that led to the arrest of the hardcore criminal. "This is a sign and testimony of popular support, good will and peace loving," Maj Oware noted.
