Judiciary Holds Consultative Meeting on Proposed Rules and Practice Directions.

The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija has presided over the Consultative Meeting on Proposed Rules and Practice Directions in Katonga Hall at Hotel Africana, Kampala.

 He acknowledged the pivotal role of stakeholders in embracing these proposals, and emphasized the need for collective input to ensure they meet the aspirations of the people and court users.

Dr. Flavian Zeija has commended the participants both online and in person for recognizing the importance of their insights in shaping the proposed rules and practice directions.

 Justice Dr. Zeija also commended the Judiciary Law Reform Committee for their dedication in crafting the proposals.

The Chief Registrar, Her Worship Sarah Langa Siu emphasized that the meeting's purpose is to enhance access to justice efficiency and enhance the quality of justice delivery, with a direct focus on addressing the needs of those seeking justice.

 Mr Bernard Oundo, the President of the Uganda Law Society, expressed appreciation for the Judiciary's continuous engagement.

 He welcomed the interventions proposed and advocated for joint continuous training on the Rules for both legal practitioners and the judiciary.

 He emphasized that it is crucial for the effective implementation and understanding of the proposed changes. 

The meeting boasts attendance from various justices and stakeholders, underscoring the collective commitment to advancing justice in Uganda.

The meeting was moderated by the Judiciary Public Relations Officer HW James Jumire Ereemye Mawanda.
