LC 3 Chairperson Remanded Over Defrauding PDM Money From 66 Year Old Beneficiary

The State Houce Anti Corruption Unit, the Criminal Ivestigation Directorate  together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions arraigned the LC 3 Chairperson, Nangonde subcounty, one Mande Idhube Baziriyo before Chief Magistrate's Court Iganga on charges of Theft.

 It is alleged that in October 2023, the suspect offered himself to help a 66 year old woman to open up a bank account and access Parish Development Model (PDM) money.

Once the money was ready, the suspect fraudulently took victim's simcard and Personal Identification Number (PIN) and later withdrew the money using mobile wallet.

 After withdrawing the money, he lied to the victim saying there was no money until later on when the victim's daughter discovered withdraw messages of the same money. He has been remanded until 15/7/2024.

In a related development, last Week the Anti Graft Unit arraigned three PDM SACCO leaders of Namutumba District before the Chief Magistrates Court in Iganga on charges of Extortion.

 These are; .Ndinywa Gideon- Chairperson Kibigo Bugobi PDM SACCO, Namambwe Annet- Publicity Secretary Kibigo Bugobi PDM SACCO and Jemera James- Chairman LC1 Kalitumba Village.

The three and other Sacco Leaders on the run have been extorting money from PDM beneficiaries in pretext that they are helping them to open up bank accounts and also to access the PDM revolving fund.

They were remanded till 10th July 2024.
