Mathematics Teacher Scores 28% In The Very Subject He Teaches - Nakaseke LC5 Chairperson Shocked By Primary Teachers' Results

On 13th March 2024, the lc5 chairperson invited 51 primary teachers from under the performed school in the district to engage with the district officials at Nakaseke Technical College only to be told to put away their bags and subjected to sitting the 2023 mock exams under the direct supervision of Mr. Koomu Kiwanuka to assess their competence.

However, on March 15th these results were released by the same district chairperson Mr. Koomu but was surprised to learn that seven out of nine scored below 50% in mathematics subject.

The chairperson shockingly noted that one of the teachers scored 28% in mathematics subject the teachers. The highest score in this subject was 89%.

For Social Studies, 13 teachers were forced to sit for the exam, and 11 of them scored above 70 percent. The highest mark scored in SST was 92 percent.

In the English language paper, 13 teachers were subjected to the assessment. Five got below 50 percent. The highest score in English was 88 percent.

In Science, 14 teachers sat for the exam, and 12 teachers scored marks above 70 with the best scoring 91 percent.
 
According to Mr Koomu, some teachers need refresher courses for better performance in the district.
Mr. Koomu's Action sparked mixed reactions from the public and educationalists with some supporting his move while others criticizing him for undermining the dignity of the teaching profession.
