Minister Nandutu Remanded to Luzira Until May 3, Bail Trial to be Heard in High Court.

The Anti- Corruption Court grade one magistrate Esther Asiimwe, directed the trial of State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu before the High Court. Magistrate Asiimwe declared that she cannot consider the bail application because Ms. Nandutu has already been committed for trial after being charged with diverting iron sheets that were meant to be relief supplies for the troubled Karamoja sub-region.

Minister Nandutu was charged with the offense of dealing with suspect property, which violates section 21A (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2009.

Consequently, if Ms. Nandutu wishes to apply for bail, she will have to do so in the High Court. Since she has been denied bail, she will remain in Luzira Prison until May 3, 2023, when she is expected to appear in court for a mention of her case.

Following the Court session, Ms. Nandutu's lawyer, Charles Wamukota Nanda, informed the press that they plan to submit their bail application papers the following day.
