NUP Replaces Mpuuga With Zaake On The Parliamentary Commission.
National Unity Platform has resolved to recall Rt. Hon. Mpuuga Mathias from commissioner of parliament citing failure to satisfy the Party's National Executive Committee on allegations of corruption and abuse of office accusing him of pocketing Shs. 500million as service award.
The statement signed by the party acting president Dr.Lina Zedriga Waru stated that,Although Hon. Mpuuga responded to NEC's request to show cause why he should not b recalled from the parliamentary commision,he failed to provide any satisfactory explanation why he engaged in corruption actions the action that is against the mission,values and objectives of the party.
NEC has resolved to recall Hon. Mpuuga from the parliamentary commission on account of corruption, dishonesty, and abuse of office. The statement reads in part.
NUP National Executive Committee has further resolved to nominate Hon. Zaake Francis Butebi as parliamentary commission. The party says Zaake's nomination was informed by the fact that he was illegally removed from that role in march 2022 .
However, some political analysts observe that the party has no power to recall the commissioner from the parliamentary commission but instead the parliament. It is not clear now whether Mpuuga will respect the party resolution.
Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga is yet to communicate on the same.
