Opposition Leaders Threaten To Protest Prosection Of Dr Besigye , Lutale In Court Martial
Opposition political party leaders have resolved to protest Kiiza Besigye’s continued detention and trial in the court martial.
In a joint opposition presser at parliament, the NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi called for the dropping of the trumped up charges imposed on Dr. Kizza Besigye and Sheikh Obed Kamulegeya noting that NUP has been the biggest victim of what he called the Kangaroo courts as over 2000 of their supporters were charged in these military courts in the 2021 electoral season.
The meeting was attended by Key figures include Gen. Mugisha Muntu, ANT president Hon. Winnie Kiiza,former LOP, Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, Hon. Sadam Gayira From PPP, Hon Ken Lukyamuzi of CP, JEEMA President Asuman Basalirwa and NUP Secretary David Lewis Rubongoya.
These issued a joint statement condemunig the arrest of Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obied Lutale in Kenya and prosecution of the duo in the military court martial .
This comes at a time when Besigye and Lutale are expected back on court martial tomorrow 10th December 2024.
However, Former Leader of Opposition Hon Winnie Kiiza has condemned the Uganda Law Council for delaying to issue a temporary practicing permit to Martha Karua , who is one of the lead lawyers in the Dr Besigye matter.
